The Battle Royale is one of tattooing's most iconic designs, originating from a full back piece by George Burchett. It depicts an eagle, snake, and dragon locked in combat — the eagle representing sky and sun, the serpent representing earth and sea, the dragon adding an Eastern influence to an otherwise Western design. Together they symbolize life and death, good and evil, and the ongoing balance between opposing forces.
